Hi everyone! Welcome to Tuesday Tales!
This week we’re with Apollo, Khalil and Deirdre in the next Gods of DC book (still untitled). This week is a picture prompt.
**Warning - There are adult situations and adult language.**
The sound of deep, violent growling and barking times three pierced through the sleep inducted fog filling Apollo’s mind. It was Artemis’s idea to record Cerebus for his morning alarm. Apollo had been terrified of the three-headed mutt since it was a puppy. He could be half-dead asleep and it would wake him up. Which was exactly how he felt after last night. Sated and warm but still half dead.
A low moan accompanied the barking. “Can you please shut that thing off?”
Apollo cracked open an eye then reached to his bedside table for his phone. Once he silenced it, he looked out the window. The moon was almost set. He’d have to head to work soon, even though it was the last place he wanted to be.
He sat up enough to prop himself against the headboard. He glanced across the bed to his lovers. Khalil was rolled onto his side facing the opposite wall, obviously not much of a post-sex cuddler. It was a good thing that Deirdre was…
Apollo frowned. Where was Deirdre? He laid his hand on the empty mattress between the two men. The cotton of his sheets was cold to the touch. She hadn’t been there for awhile.
“Huh. Guess she was just here for the fun and took off,” Apollo commented with a snort.
“She’ll be back,” Khalil grumbled into his pillow. “She had things to do, things that can only be done in the cover of night.”
“What? Is she a thief or something?”
“You could say that. She steals life.”
“What do you mean ‘she steals life’? Do you know her? Are you two buddies or something?”
“She’s a banshee, my love. She’s not mortal. I told you she could keep up with us. Can I go back to sleep now?”
